Dreams

BY LANGSTON HUGHES

Hold fast to dreams

For if dreams die

Life is a broken-winged bird

That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams

For when dreams go

Life is a barren field

Frozen with snow.

This Creative project will explore childhood, memory, dreams. Through movement tasks, writing prompts, audio generation, and play, we will tap back into our inner child while also honouring who we are as adults today. This creative project will work towards embracing our whole selves, our past, our present, and imagining our future.

Participants will dance with the Micro Rainbow creative team, write their own poems, fragments, and notes, and have the opportunity to record some of their writing for the development of a soundscape. In a way, we will dance and write autobiographically.

Over these days we will be joined by a photographer to document our work.  It will be photographed by Kate Green in ways that will protect identity if needed. You are welcome to take part in the creative project and opt out of being photographed. We will ask you to complete a consent form to tell us what you are comfortable with. As always we want to enjoy dancing, playing and making something beautiful together in a safe and creative environment.

We will use the written, audio and photographic content from the project to be shared in the following ways:

  • We will share it with Micro Rainbow beneficiaries and staff.
  • We will share it with our funders and invited guests (Micro Rainbow family and friends)
  • It may be shared on the internet, including on the Micro Rainbow website.
  • In social media posts.
  • In Project Evaluations to share the outcomes from the project.

No dance or creative experience is required for the project. If you have any specific access needs, please make a member of the Micro Rainbow Team aware of this.

Please download and fill in this consent form, and return it to to [email protected] to let us know that you would like to take part in this exciting session.
