Give the gift of safety

This winter, give the gift of safety to LGBTQI people fleeing persecution.
Give the gift of safety

For LGBTQI asylum seekers, safety is not guaranteed. Many arrive in the UK after escaping violence, rejection, and persecution. At Micro Rainbow, safe housing is the first step towards rebuilding their lives.

This winter every donation becomes a key that unlocks the door to a safe house, and to a future filled with dignity, hope, and belonging.

“Compared to the accommodation I had before, this safe house feels like a home. I no longer feel isolated or scared. Instead, I feel respected, accepted, and understood. Thank you again for providing such a safe and supportive environment for people like me.”

Why does Micro Rainbow provide safe housing?

Home should be a space of safety and security, but all too often, for LGBTQI people fleeing persecution, that isn’t the case. Many LGBTQI people seeking asylum in the UK are forced to share accommodation with people who share the same homophobic and transphobic views they left their home countries to escape. They must hide who they are again to stay safe and live with the constant fear of being exposed.

But in Micro Rainbow’s safe houses, LGBTQI people seeking asylum are safe to be who they are. They no longer have to hide and can live openly as their true selves.

The impact of moving into Micro Rainbow’s safe housing is huge.

“The difference is that living in the Micro Rainbow safe house is amazing. I feel much more free and safe. In my previous house, I was afraid and couldn’t talk about being gay or show my identity because of the people living there. But in the Micro Rainbow safe house, it is truly better – I can display the LGBTQI flag on the wall and enjoy my freedom much more”

Regular donation plans

If you support the work we do, the easiest way to help is to become an ally by making a monthly donation. Your regular donation will help Micro Rainbow not only to become more sustainable but also be able to buy items as and when we need them, and support residents to take part in our moving on and social inclusion programmes.
